I can think of 3 times this year that someone has told us when the world will end. How foolish of us to pay attention to such nonsense.
One night as I meditated on this apocalypse stuff, I heard a still small voice say to me: "Son. You have no idea what time it is on God's clock. But, thanks to God's Word, you can know what to DO WITH YOUR TIME."
Redeem the time, Paul said. Or, as it says in another translation, "Make the most of every opportunity..."
I recall a few years back I was on duty (I'm a cop) and I was about to get in my police car and drive off after having dealt with a situation at a local apartment complex. Just as I was about to enter my car, I looked off to the left and noticed about 15 small children playing outside at the nearby daycare center.
I felt prompted to go over to them and say "Hi," and perhaps shake their hands...
I headed over toward them, and after obtaining permission from the adult in charge, reached out to the kids. A fence stood between us, so I extended my hand and shouted hi to all of them...
They went wild! They came running up to the fence, giggling and laughing and grabbing my hand. This incident stirred me to the depths!
After a few minutes of fellowship with these little ones, I headed back to my car to respond to the next call.
As I walked toward my patrol car, I heard that same still small Voice say to me: "Son, you're a bit more like Me now than you were 5 minutes ago."
Beloved, give no thought to what TIME it may be on our Father's clock: instead, give your time to those around you and "make the most of every opportunity. "
